When I first got here, I racked up almost $400 that month on long distance bill. I was so homesick that I called home almost every minute of the day when hubby was at work. We were shocked how our phone bill was that huge. Learned that lesson well! Now that my family just arrived, we are anticipating a bigger bill on phone. But I am encouraging them to use phone cards, that way they are limited to the minutes the card have and not exceed it. But I feel so sorry when they are cut short too.I really do understand how frustrating it is to use phone cards when sometimes they will take out minutes from the hidden fees they have. That's why it's smart to use pingo. The cheap calling cards there is with no hidden fees- the rate you see is the rate you pay!
It's not only cheap, it's also realiable! As I have mentioned before, I have been really busy ever since my family came last June. I have lots of things to share but I don't have enough time.
I have helped my family, especially my bro finding jobs in the city because of transportation problem. I love them to stay where we are which is about 10 minutes drive to the main town, but still, without a car, that's a big problem. So we settled with the idea that they have to live in the city which is only about 45 minutes from where we are. Finding a job was the first thing we did. Lil bro didn;t look that long for a job. There are tons of jobs over here,as long as you are not picky. He landed a job at Citadel Hotel. He got called for an interview, and got hired the same day. Not bad for a new comer
Well then, the tansportation was the next step. Citadel is in the heart of Halifax and he will require a ride everyday from where we are, so good thing a friend of mine offered her house. He stayed there for a couple of weeks while we are looking for an apartment. We were lucky to get an apartment so close to all bus routes. It's like the bus in just outside the apartment, and major stores are just behind the place. I really love the apartment, it's clean and very affordable considering it's in the city.
Here's a look of their new place
